1- Yes, I had heard about this band because the rolling stones recorded the same song.

1). No, I have never heard of "The Blues Brothers". But now that I see and heard them, I really like them.
2). The song is about "love", everyone needs someone to love, its means that we all need someone, we cannot be complete alone in the world without relating and socializing. The song also infer that if you love someone, you have to demonstrate affect by holding, kissing, missing him/her before it is too late.
3).Yes, I agree with this comment, because although we are all different people, all of us need affect, need to feel that people worried about us, and that we are important for our family, friends, relatives.
