Life and images

Listen to this Visual Manifesto. Check this link: https://vimeo.com/113420504

Images, they create our world
They inhabit our space
They reflect what's in our mind's eye.
and are at the core of what we believe in
What we hope for
The beauty we see in others, in ourselves
The hope we find, even in difficult moments
Images are an intimate part of our world
and they are everywhere.
But how do we reflect on them now
with so many at once?
Are they losing their impact?
Do we really understand the message?
Or is it lost in the bombardment?
What do we need to do to make it STOP?
We can no longer be passive.
We have to be more discerning, more selective, more
collaborative.
We have to recognize the stories, on the surface and
underneath, and retell them in our own way or tell our own
stories.
We have to slow down, stop, reflect,
think about what we're seeing, why it's there,
how it affects us,
what it does to us emotionally and why.
When we are able to do this, we see beneath the surface to
what is really there.
And only then do become the real message makers, the
critical thinkers, the true problems solvers who manifest
the dreams of tomorrow.

  1. 1- I think it gives a very interesting point of view of what images are in our world and how they affect our lives. As well as how we should pay more attention to them to be able to analize what they mean.
2- a- Images are very important in our upbringing because they form how we percive what is around us. Everything we see and surround us is going to have an impact in our way of thinking and that is what makes the images intimate.
b- It's important to stop and think about what we see, because if we don't, we are losing its meaning. We overlook what is in front of us, and it's a shame that we don't appreciate those images and its value.
3- I think memories and images are related because we tend to remember in a very visual way. I have a lot of images in my mind, everything I see I remember, and that is because I pay a lot of attention of what's around me.

  2. 1) This video gives a very interesting opinion about the fact of images constantly passing by our mind, and how this images are always saying something, and how we can´t watch them all simultaneously. The final reflection is very nice, about taking a pause and thinks about how we should take all this images and put them together in our own way.
    2)
A- The view is the most important of our senses, without images, we feel empty. They are the easiest way to express a feeling, to remember a memory or to call people attention. Seeing a beautiful landscape for example, is something that anyone could appreciate and say: this image, I want to keep it forever.

B- There is people very alert, and others very distracted, but both can never pay attention to all the images around us. We should start thinking what we really like for our future and start selecting what we would pay attention from now on and what images we don´t like to see anymore, in order to have a moment, stop and think about what we are seeing.

C- Yes, sure. All the memories in my head have their own image. Even if the memory is a sound or a smell, your head will remember what where you seeing when you hear or smell that. That is the reason of seeing being so important, because that way we build our thoughts and memories.

  3. 1- It is an interesting manifiesto, but i don´t agree with it, i thing that the eye chooses on what to pay attention. If we do not try to pay more attention, we just notice what the eye want. It is all about our sensorial process, we don´t like everything, and we don´t perceive everything. The message we take is sometimes unconscious,we should try to focus more on what sorround us
2-Yes, i totally agree with it, because images are used to communicate , and its messages is masive, so it is an easy way to show something.
    - I agree with it, if it is an image about a social issue, if not, there is no need to slow down because we are alredy selective.
3- I believe that our memory is a box full of images, smell, taste, and everything that could affect us. I have a lot of memories, and i am trying as i getting older, to pay more and more attention on what sorrounds me.
