"An army of two"

1- What is he talking about?
2- What do you think of the following lines?
a- Don´t ever change and I´ll stay the same (Is that possible?)
b- "Our faith is the bullet, hope is the gun" (What is he referring to?)
c- I took a vow to never let you down (Could you paraphrase this line?)
3- Do you think people pay attention to lyrics of songs or they just get carried away by a catchy tune?
    What about you?

  1. 1-he's talking about how things have to be managed to start a good relationship
2-a-I think this is not possible because people changes all the time, this changes sometimes are due to family problems, work, strees, etc.
b-He says that in a relationship, faith and hope are the tools to keep on and move foward.
c-he promise himself that he will always support his woman/wife
3-I think people like songs because they have a catchy tune, but when they hear it too much the start to pay attention with the lyric. I'm a clear example of what I just write.

  2. 1. He is talking about a relationship and how it can be compared with and army of two, that fights with the help of each other.

    2.
    a. No, it isn't. I think that people can change but if the feeling is true, it won't affect the relationship.

    b. He's referring to the two most important elements in love: hope and faith.

    c. He is making a compromise in not to fail her.

    3. I think that the mayority of the people don't pay real attention to the lyrics of songs and only enjoy the sound of the songs. In my case, I love hearing what the singer wants to say and express.

  4. 1) He is talking about the love. He compares the relationship between his girlfriend and he with an army of two, where the only thing you need is another.
    2) a- In my opinión, it is not possible because during the relationship each goes through difficult and different moments about their family, Jobs, health and other things.
b- He is refering that their relationship is the key to be well.
c- He has promised that they relationship will never go wrong. He is an idealistic man!
    3) I think people pay attention to lyrics of songs because I do it! I never don´t like a song if its lyrics is poor.

  6. 1- He is listing things that he plans to/not to do in his relationship.
2- a. That line picked my attention before I read the question. People grow and change, it's natural. Pretend to stay the same it's unreal (also it's boring). Maybe it's a song writed for teens.
    b. I'm not sure about the gun and bullet methaphor, but I think he want to say that hope and faith are the things that thrusts his relationship.
    c. I made a promise to always look after you.
3- I think it depends on the person, and the languaje. In my case, I don't fully understand english songs, and often when I read the lyrics I feel dissapointed, and lose interest in the song. Also, I learn a lot faster reading than listening, so I usually don't understand the songs if I don't pay special attention to the words.
